The meter of pulse laser peak power is initiated to meet the demand of laser peak power standard apparatus (The ninth 5- year project) and the standard apparatus for measuring the main parameters of laser range finder (the tenth 5-year project). Aiming at solving the problem of high cost and difficulty to measure the weak nanosecond laser, the meter could be used to measure the peak power of nanosecond laser with single-pulse and repeatable frequency.Based on the research achievements of abroad and at home in laser peak power metrology, this paper presents the theoretic study and electronic design work in photoelectric conversion, high-speed wide band amplification and acquisition of nanosecond signal. We use the scope and expansion method to covert analog nanosecond signal into digital signal, which solve the problem of nanosecond A/D conversion. The experiment calibration is performed to get pulse laser peak power.We have already finished a set of peak power detecting system (with power supply) and a set of peak power display unit and used them in practical measurement.The research work of using scope is still underway and further improvement will be conducted in later stage...
