Chapter 1 is the preface. It first introduces the development of satellitecommunication, then the elements of routing strategies which should be considered insatellite communication are given, and the performance factors which can evaluatethe routing strategies are introduced. Moreover, the constellation managementtechniques are presented. At last, the respects from which this dissertation areresearched and the framework of this dissertation are shown.Chapter 2 mainly studies the routing strategies of LEO satellite communicationsystem with inter-satellite links. It first introduces the routing strategies in LEOsystem with inter-satellite links which have been researched in other articles. Then thenetwork topology structure and operating rules are analyzed in detail, and the trafficand topology adaptive routing algorithms are proposed, which can facility therealization of routing policies and improve the throughput of the system. Also, due tothe dynamic topology of LEO system,the connection may be interrupted because ofhandover failure. In order to minimize the handover failure probability, dynamicchannel reservation strategies are also taken into account at the same time. Accordingto simulation results, the system performance can be improved as a result of dynamicchannel reservation for handover calls.Chapter 3 studies the routing strategies of the LEO satellite data communicationsystem without inter-satellite links. The system mainly provides pure data service,and consists of the LEO satellites and the ground gateway stations which are locatedonly in our Chinese regions. This chapter proposes the shortest delay routingalgorithm that can work out the shortest time delay and find out the optimal routewith minimal delay.
