| Because of inherent defects of traditional Ethernet technology and more and moren complicated network environment, the current development of MAN is facing a huge bottleneck, which needs a breakthrough to meet the new service needs of carriers which are been changing and developing all the time. Then Carrier Ethernet is born. In the beginning of 2005, Carrier Ethernet technology was put forward by the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum). After so many years of development, the technology is widely used at abroad, but is just started in China.The topics focus on analysis of Carrier Ethernet technology and Carrier Ethernet switches. Initiated from the carrier's serive needs, it provides a new type of Carrier Ethernet applications in order to solve the following issues:(1) How to establish Carrier Ethernet network in the current MAN environment by using Carrier Ethernet switches?(2) How to ensure high bandwidth requirement with QoS (Quality of Service) technology in Carrier Ethernet switches?(3) How to meet the reliability requirements of carriers by using link aggregation protection technology, spanning tree protection technology and EAPS (Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching) ring protection technology?(4) How to achieve fault alarm and detection in Carrier Ethernet switches by using OAM (Operation Administration Maintenance) technology?(5) How to build one perfect and reasonable network environment with the security technology in Carrier Ethernet switches and being combined with other security technology and products?The thesis proves that Carrier Ethernet switches can fully meet the carrier's needs in QoS,reliability,manageability and security aspects by analyzing the key technology design principles in Carrier Ethernet switches and the carrier's needs on MAN environment. In the end of thesis, it also analyzes the development direction and the current urgent issues in Carrier Ethernet switches in the next few years. |
