Embedded Web Server And Its Applications

In post PC, "embedded internet" is the outcome of the development of the technology of information. The degree of sharing information is always increasing, so that the centre of internet application is turned to embedded equipments from PC. If embedded systems join up internet, information can be transmitted to all over the world, not only bringing about the remote controlling, maintaining and updating of equipments, but also the equipments will change into a part of the internet sharing resources. We may well say so, this brings about a new field for industry monitor and household appliance.Now, MCU is widely used in home and industry, but most of them are alone. How to bring these dispersed embedded systems to join up internet is a hot topic of discussion. In terms of theory, if a embedded system changing into Web Server, loading and explaining TCP/IP protocols, it can be joined up internet. But the main difficulty is that TCP/IP protocol needs high degree memory and operating speed which 8/16 MCU is difficult to match. How to solve the contradiction of limit of MCU and TCP/IP protocol is the key of the connecting internet of MCU. This paper is based on the point of seeking and solving the connecting internet of MCU with a optimal means.Both theory and practice are included in this paper. The part of theory is the development, condition, trend, demand and skill of embedded system, TCP/IP protocols, the controlling theory of Ethernet, the structure of MCU ,and so on. The part of practice is mastering developing means, designing the structure of embedded Web Server, fabricating hardware circuit, writing program which based on MCU and RTL8019AS,reducing TCP/IP protocols, loading TCP/IP protocols, using the developing tools to compile, run and debug code, testing, improving and maintaining the application system, finally ,bringing the Web Server model into a practical apply.Five chapters are involved in this paper. In chapter 1, the history and trend of embedded systems, the characteristics of embedded technology and the researching significance and contend of this paper are introduced. In chapter 2, Firstly, the current solutions of accessing embedded system to internet are depicted, secondly a basic design thought of embedded web server system based on MCU is provided. In chapter 3, TCP/IP protocols which are closely related to the programming of embedded WebServer are introduced. In chapter 4, the inner-structure and using methods about the RTL8019 chip, the hardware and software architecture of a kind of embedded web server are depicted, how to use the RTL8019 chip to realize the data communication based on TCP/IP about MCU is discussed. This helps to design cheap and powerful function terminal devices, and can be widely used in information device and controller. In chapter 5, first of all some already developed techniques and solutions which are applied in smart equipment connection with Internet or Intranet are presented, and then based on the special features of home automation system, an architecture of embedded home gateway for internetworking home automation networks is described.
