This paper introduced a data acquisition system based on VXI bus. The hardware design and software design are described in great detail. And we also discussed the development of FPGA, which is the core chirp of whole system.The source and the research background of this project are introduced firstly. According to the design demand, we put forward one scheme and analyzed its difficulties and requirements. We also discussed the research actuality and trend of several correlative technologies. It includes the visual instrument technology, the VXI bus technology, FPGA technology and the digital signal processing technology.Secondly, we mainly described the hardware design and the software design of this testing system based on VXI bus. In hardware design, we introduced the organization of the whole system; the realization of VXI bus controlling and the circuit design of data acquisition and signal trigging. In software design, we discussed the driving program of visual instrument, the FPGA running program and the system self-checking program.Thirdly, the correlative technologies of FPGA design are discussed. It includes the process of FPGA system design, the clock net design in data acquisition system, the software conditional loading, the pipeline technology and the optimization methods of VHDL codes. We also introduced how to use MicroBlaze to realize the FIR & FFT arithmetic.At last, we made a summary of the whole work in the past and pointed out the direction of further work about this project in the future.
