The visual simulation of missile/target encounter is one of important means of the terminal guidance of air-to-air missile and the arithmetic of burst control. This paper combines the technique of visual simulation with the technology of computer graphics and discusses the key technology of the simulation system.Three kinds of technology of three-dimensional modeling in common use at present were analyzed. Considering the request of fuze-warhead coordination visualization, the lifelike model of missile/target was founded by using triangles close to curve. And the visualization of warhead fragments scatter was realized by using particle systems in this thesis.Through studying the technology of collision detection and the characteristic of the scatter of warhead fragments, the method of collision detection based upon the minimum distance and the arithmetic of projection sphere that can be used in calculating the numbers of fragments were proposed.Using C++ Builder and OpenGL, the software of visual simulation about the encounter of missile/target and automatic target recognition (ATR) was designed in this thesis. This software cannot only display the encounter of the missile and the object at various pose, but also realize the visual simulation of missile/target encounter and the terminal image tracking of missile.
