3D visualization is a new technique of seismic interpretation. It has greatly improved the accuracy and efficiency of seismic interpretation, and made the final results more reliable and intuitive. The idea of this article is based on surface visualization, the reflection surfaces are drawed out from 3D seismic data sets, and portrayed with OpenGL.First, 3D seismic data is quantified by 256 degree, and a global threshold is acquired by the automatic thresholding method; Secondly, a region growing criterion is established according to the statistical character of local data sets, a point-collection is traced by using a quick tracing strategy based of region growing, and the reflection surface is drawed out from this point-collection. Finally, the 3D objects is displayed . The results of visualization are improved by using triangulation, pseudo-color methods and interaction.Experiments on visualization of 3D seismic data sets based on refection surface show that the method brought forward in this article is efficient and practical.
