Visualization in scientific computing has become an indispensable means of scientific research. It is one of the most effective ways to reveal and present the inherent information and relationship in data sets. With the help of the visualization technology, geoscientists can improve seismic data processing and interpreting quality and efficiency, which can decrease the cost of oil and gas exploration and exploitation. In this paper, based on the latest principles and methods, some of the key aspects of seismic data visualization are researched. In this paper, based on the latest principles and methods, some of the key aspects of seismic data visualization are researched.First, according to the specific requirements of data, three types of 2D graphics rendering methods, which are wiggle curve, the color map and the black-and-white map, are developed. When drawing wiggle curve, the paper introduced a Bezier curve fitting method in order to avoid the broken line in the condition of a small number of sampling points. In color mapping, the strategy of sampling and linear interpolation is proposed in order to meet arbitrary graphics and narrowing regional amplification. In black-and-white map, a waveform segmentation algorithm is presented to achieve a positive or negative regional accurate filling.Then, according to the features in seismic data, which the storage and visiting are simple, and do not require a high level of image detail, a new 3D seismic data visualization algorithm is put forward. Based on the thought of splatting direct volume rendering technology, this algorithm accelerates rendering speed by combining splatting method with 2D texture mapping efficiently, reduces time complexity of depth sorting by dividing volume data and composes the final image through hardware-assisted texture slices blending.Finally, a seismic data visualization system (Seismic Data Display Toolkit) is designed. The major functions are designed based on those methods and algorithms introduced in this paper. Until now, this system can perform seismic data visualization very well.
