The standard and capability of an educational administration management is an significant part of measuring the level of the administrative management of an institution. As the computer technology and Internet technology advanced themselves, the requirement for incorporation of automatization, digitization and Internet technology into the educational administration management is getting higher and higher.As the adult education of Jia Ying University develops, the work of adult educational administration management is getting tougher and tougher. To digitalize and standardize the work of educational administration management, to break away from the less-efficient manual mode of doing administrative task, we develop this educational administrative management system which is specifically designed for the characteristic of the adult education in Jia Ying University. The teaching material management system for this project is one of its sub-systems.As one of relatively independent component of the educational administration management, the teaching material management is often neglected in the management system, or being developed as an independent system. This causes the inefficient exchange of information between the management of teaching materials and certain closely related components of educational administration such as selecting courses and student tuition fees etc. This in turn results repetitive tasking and redundancy of information. The standard of teaching materials management directly affects the efficiency and quality of the work of teaching materials management, which consequently affects the quality of the teaching standard of the school. By incorporating the teaching materials management system into the system of the educational administration management helps improve further the work of educational administration management.The teaching materials management can be divided into 3 components: stockmanagement, purchase of the teaching materials and the distribution of the teaching materials. Stock management includes record information, inquiries of book stores, record checking, inquiries checking and teaching materials statistics etc. Purchase of teaching materials manages information of the publishing companies and its departmental outlets, give orderings according to the courses selected by the students and the requests of the teachers and make statistics on the ordering of the teaching materials and its cost. The distribution of teaching materials consists five parts which are the forms of the course materials, distribution according to courses, distribution according to individuals, collection of books by the teachers and the retail selling of the materials.The design of the system adopts the integration of the traditional C/S (Client/ Server) mode and the popular B/S (Browser/Server) mode. It is a three-layer structure. C/S mode has strong capability of real-time application which is suitable for the real-time handling of the database and large amount of data update; the system is comparatively enclosed which makes its confidentiality relatively higher. The software which are applicable to C/S mode are technically sophisticated and ranges over a great variety. B/S mode is able to close connected to almost all local area network; it is not necessary to install client station; its interface is standardized (browser); its operation is relatively simple because it has applied "thin client station" technology. The system uses C/S and B/S modes together and shares the same background database (carried out using two-mode background database back-up to each other.)The server uses Windows 2000 Server System and the background database uses SQL Server (7.0 and above). B/S intermediate layer has made use of JSP technology and C/S client station application software is C++ builder.
