The paper has researched the structure and implementation of Embedded Network Instrument (ENI). ENI consists of two parts, one named Microcontroller for instrument control and data acquisition, the other called MicroServer for network communication.The hardware design of Microcontroller takes into account performance and cost and includes circuits design of LCD, micro printer and standard keyborad. The software design of Microcontroller makes use of the idea of object oriented design.The software design of MicroServer starts with a brief introduction of TCP/IP protocols. Based on PPP negou'aton sequence examples, the PPP negotiation state machine is simplified and the software design of PPP protocol is accomplished. The TCP/IP protocols is condensed in the light of user requirement, accordingly, the software design of protocols is implemented. Simplified the HTTP protocol, the Embedded Web Server is implemented.Further, the paper introduces real time operating system uC/OS- II to the Microcontroller to improve ENI real time performance.
