A new core network domain, the IP Multimedia Subsystem(IMS) is proposed by 3GPP(the third generation partnership project)working group and IMS core network based on session initiation protocol(SIP) as the key protocol. IMS is introduced for the control of multimedia session and the interconnection to other networks, such as the PSTN and other UMTS. And IMS can provide the key functions of multimedia services such as register, session control, carrier control, media negotiation and safety, etc for 3G mobile multimedia terminals. It is based on the new value services. The base function of the terminals is communication. So the design and realization of terminal telecommunication system based on IMS will be meaningful practice usage.This paper researched and analyzed the application problem of terminal communication in IMS(IP Multimedia Subsystem)system, and then guided by the philosophy of designing method in software engineering, it designed and implemented a video and audio frequency communication system including CSCF and UA units which mainly based a IMS net framework.This paper introduce the IMS system, and the key protocol of SIP,RTP/RTCP,and Diameter. After analyzing the importance of the communication controllers of multimedia operation, its data transmission and presence service which related IMS system, and then dealt with the key technique of implement in IMS communication system. The current program model and technique framework of middle component in multi protocols of VOCAL,oSE,JAIN-SIP/SipSeverlet,SDS has been studied and compared, and choose the SDS as a result contribute much to implement of the system. The innovation and the result of this paper is the implement of IMS system which includes multi function such as user registering, sending message, presence service. During the implement of IMS system, many software engineering management method has been adopted which helped in demanding modeling, designing, implementing.
