Now the evolution of computing has decreased the tight coupling between the user and his or her computing resource and environment. The computing is more flexible in resource usage and free from collocation. Mobile terminal is an important part of pervasive computing terminal. Because of improving of wireless communication rate, voice communication service terminal and personal information managing terminal are being integrated, which results in smart phone. With the prevalence of mobile terminal, simple and beautiful user interface has been becoming a key technology affecting it. In desktop computing environment, the style of human computer interaction has been changed from command user interface to multimedia graphical user interface which is a temporary alternative of natural human computer interaction mode. With the improving of hardware, the performance of mobile terminal is becoming stronger and stronger. It is possible to support Web browser, MMS, J2ME etc. These applications are based on a highperformance and robust graphical user interface supporting system-embeddedwindow system.After studying the multimedia graphical user interaction of desktop systems, I build a set of embedded window system design reference. It provides eight goals for embedded window system and a structure model which has four modules. It also presents the design principle for embedded window system and three key technology which are message driving, screen managing and resource managing.After the theory studying, I analyse DeltaGUI which is an embeded window system product from Coretek Systems Incorporated. DeltaGUI uses layer, module and object-oriented designing method and is devided into I/O, window kernel and application interface layers. It uses C++ programming and defines DScreen, DMessageQueue, DObject, DTextObject, DImageConvert base classes. So it's porting is very easy. I discuss message managing, screen managing, interface managing and running progress of DeltaGUI at large. DeltaGUI uses single message queue and performs a message cycle. Every GUI object has four pointers which point siblings, parent and child.Finally, I present the DeltaGUI applications in network telephone, PDA and GPS graphical terminal. So, DeltaGUI is logical and robust and will be promising in business.
