With the rapid development of the computer network technology and the electronic technology, the world is stepping into post-PC era, during which people gradually know and accept a new concept, embedded system. Unconsciously, many kinds of embedded digital products have become the main tools of processing information after PC. At the same time, the life of people is closely linked with Internet so that it is natural for the embedded system to connect to Internet. In order to connect into Internet, the embedded system could use TCP/IP protocol which is the factual standard of network interconnection. For the short of the hardware resources such as RAM, the embedded system could not support the full of TCP/IP protocol and it must expurgate the TCP/IP protocol according to different network application. The embedded TCP/IP protocol can be implemented by hardware and software. The former means the embedded system links the chips that fulfill the functions of TCP/IP protocol. It prefers to implement the TCP/IP protocol by software than by hardware, because it is wasteful to implement the protocol by hardware for the cost of hardware. This paper discusses a method of the implementation of the embedded TCP/IP protocol by software with the support of DeltaCore RTOS.Firstly, the paper introduces the knowledge relating to TCP/IP protocol and defines the modules of the protocol stack according to the characteristic of the embedded system. Then it analyzes the relation and the interface of the modules and designs to implement the stack by 4 tasks. Next, the implementation of all modules is detailed discussed, including the process of input and output. Further more, the testing of TCP/IP protocol stack is introduced with the testing report. In the end, the problems of the stack are discussed simply and some idea to solve them are given.
