With the rapid development of network technology, collaborative resource sharing between devices, transparent access to information has become increasingly important, so the network access device also put forward higher requirements. The embedded devices are increasingly used in various fields today, its network access capabilities, network performance has also become a hot spot for embedded system applications’research; embedded systems’ dedication, high real-time requirements, limited resources and low power consumption, the traditional network protocol stack is not suitable for network access needs of embedded systems. While the amount of information increases, the response time to user needs network embedded devices have gradually improved, simply rely computing hardware platform to meet the need to enhance the capacity of the emBedded system can easily be limited by their characteristics. Therefore, on the basis of fully functional features for real-time embedded systems to optimize the network protocol stack is also very necessary. This practice first compared the current popular technical characteristics of the network protocol stack, combined with systematic consideration of real-time and resource constraints, LwIP selected as the target network protocol stack. And in-depth analysis of its operating model and memory management messag passing, multi-threaded interaction related technical points, network interface management, timer and other aspects of the design and realization and based on combination of the underlying operating system kernel, complete the network protocol stack porting and implementation of the operating system emulation layer. After analysis of the HAL layer network protocol stack implementation framework invokation for the target hardware platform, prepare the underlying network protocol stack NIC driver, and finally to the target embedded systems with network communication capabilities to meet the needs of its network access functions. After the basic network communications fully functional, the summary of the practice and made several embedded devices for the network protocol stack optimized ideas, And finally the basic functions of the system, the performance test, the results achieve the desired objectives.
