With the rapid development of internet technology application, the product "Internet" concept is becoming more and more accepted by many manufacturers. In the world, by a predict data, about 95% networking equipment will no longer be computer, but the embedded equipment with networking function. It's the trend for the embedded equipment to connect to Internet, then how to enable an embedded system using the rich resources of the network is a current hot research, and the research of embedded protocol stack is one of the hot research issues. The TCP/IP protocol stack is a very complex and large system, it's the major component of the Internet safe and reliable communications, usually used in the common computer supported by operating system. But because of the limited storage capacity and the relative lack of resources of embedded systems, it is inappropriate to use traditional TCP/IP protocol in an embedded system. So we need to modularly reduce the TCP/IP in order to achieve the corresponding network functions while saving system resources in an embedded system. Often we use a subset of the TCP/IP, including all or part of the IP, TCP and UDP.This subject will achieve a minilP protocol stack;this protocol should have a stable communication and a clear framework. At the beginning of this article, auther introduces the embedded protocol technology development, and then assaies a protocol stack—LwIP. The analysis includes Portocol layering and Process Model, Buffer and memory management, IP processing, TCP processing, UDP processing and so on. Auther concentrates on the embedded protocol stack technology research, and serves as a basis for completing the minilP. The researchs include Buffer and memory management designing, Application program interface designing, device drivers designing, ARP processing, TCP processing, IP processing and UDP processing. And then, auther designs a Web Server experiment to test the minilP, and makes an analysis of existing problems. At the end of this paper is the sum up of author's work, and auther futures prospects of the research job.
