Pulse-Doppler radar is wide used, which utilizes the Doppler Shift between thetarget and the radar to have the target information processed. It can efficiently solvethe interference of the ground clutter. The ground clutter characteristic influences thePD radar greatly. This article discusses how to use the mapping method to calculatethe radar video signal so as to check radar performance. The ground is divided intolarge clutter cells and small clutter cells by the method. The ground statistic characterpartitions large clutter cells. Small clutter cells are divided by distance resolution andfrequency resolution. It can be looked as a point scatter. Its distance and Dopplerfrequency can be calculated by the geometrical relations. Its RCS should be mappedinto the radar coordinates. Calculate returns from all point scatters of the samedistance loop. These returns are complexes and are summed up to get the radar echoat this moment. Calculate the echoes from all the distance loops to produce the videosignal. The paper also analyzes the altitude returns in detail. Using the methodmentioned above, the video signal is carried out on computer. Finally the paper givesthe spectrum of the video signal. The error of frequency shift is discussed in the end.
