This thesis discusses the signal processing methods of Pulse Doppler (PD) weather radar, mainly studying Spectral Moments (SM) estimators and Range-Velocity (RV) ambiguity resolution methods.Firstly, we introduce the typical PD weather radar signal processing structures and its implementation schemes. Then we propose an improved spectral processing algorithm based on comprehensive analysis of several commonly used SM estimators. Computer simulations show that the combination of this improved algorithm with threshold processing results in better SM estimation performance.Secondly, we analyze the staggered pulse repetition time (PRT) method for velocity measurement. Then we present its modified version through strict mathematical analysis. The simulations reveal that the modified method has more robust velocity measurement performance and wider velocity measurement range.Finally, we propose an improved phase-coded method for range measurement. The simulation results show that the improved method has stronger weather echoes detection and recovery performance. Moreover, this improved method has less computational load and can be easily used in real-time environment.
