The development of network technology and multimedia technology has greatly improved the communication technology of integration, digitalization, intellectualization and persdnalization, which makes it possible to realize integrated services of audio, data, video, and so on, on a single network platform. Therefore, under such a background, the network multimedia living broadcast, whiich integrates network technology and multimedia technology, has Appeared and made fast development. MPEG-4 is a very popular multimedia codec, which used in the low bit-rate transport in the network .So how to transport MPEG-4 bit-stream in the network real-time is a hotispot of research .According to the above, the basic principle and key technology of multimedia transport have been researched in the paper, and it introduceis the real time transport protocol RTP/RTCP and how to transport MPEG-4 over RTP/RTCP. Refer to RFC3016, a transport MPEG-4 over RTP/|RTCP system has been designed and implemented. This paper depicts the system, including capture module, encode module, network transport, module, decode module and playback module. The test result shows that the system can transport MPEG-4 video and audio real-timely and playback the video and audio sync. Based on the development and testing, the influence of delay, jitter and packet loss on the video and audio are analyzed in the paper.MPEG-4 real-time transport basic principle, protocol, standard and key technology have been expatiated from chapter 1 to chapter 4.Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 describe the system development, includinganalysis, design, implement and testing.
