In this paper, the application of CENTUM CS1000 of Yokogawa in the benzene chloride production is discussed. The system struct , software and hardware of the engineering workstation and human interface station, system configuration , safety property and grounding are also studied.Aimed at two important equipments-chlorination reactor and distillation tower, the mechanism modeling is conducted by the material balance and energy balance. The chlorination reaction and distillation principles are discussed and the factors of affecting reaction speed and distillation outturn are analysed. The control methods were also designed.At last, the development process of the monitor software of the supervisory computer based on the OPC technology is introduced, and the modularized conception is adopted. The functional modules are also introduced. The supervisory computer communicates with the subjacent computer through Ethernet. The supervisory computer can get the data from the production process in a realtime way.
