This paper aims at special requirement the machine tool industry proposed for color design of CAID system, proposing the idea of area render, endowing the color module with part of intelligent thoughts. I made use of SolidWorks 2001 as the development platform and VC++6.0, OpenGL1.1 as the development tool , proposing the material edit method for body, face of SolidWorks assembly, building material edit interface to easily use based on the original software. Furthermore, I made further research and exploration for material edit for part of face.
