In this thesis we research on the application of remote expert system for equipment faults diagnosis. In faults diagnosis expert system, the reasoning is based on human experts’ experience and knowledge. Because of the uncertainty of diagnosis knowledge and the fault phenomenon, in our system, we use uncertain production rule and uncertain reasoning strategy, in this way the conclusions we adopt is more close to the reality. Uncertain production rule is generated from production rule, adopt confidence, reality threshold, rule strength. Accordingly we also adopt the confidence parameters when we choose the fault phenomenon and give the conclusions. We use positive reasoning, take the uncertain measurement and diffusion thoughts of certain theory as a reference to manage the uncertain parameters, obtain more receivable conclusion. In order to adapt the remote diagnosis demands of modern industry, the system we develop chose C/S model, the users only need to install the client on PC and could remote access the server, manage the work of remote diagnosis.We utilize AI language JESS, object-oriented language JAVA to establish the system, utilize relational database My SQL to manage the rules and knowledge. The system consists of four modules, client module, server side diagnosis reasoning module, communication model between client and server, database management module. Client module is in charge of getting diagnosis information from user and present the diagnosis conclusion to the user; the server side diagnosis reasoning module getting diagnosis information from client, reasoning in the inferring program and then feed back the reasoning result to client; communication model need to realize the interact of information between client and server; database management module manage and store the rules and knowledge, when conducting the reasoning program, the system imports the contents of rule-base into working space of reasoning program.The Expert System designed in this thesis is applied in the field of bearing fault, with rolling bearing fault diagnosis manual we establish the fault tree of bearing, then adopt the diagnosis rules, and also verify the validity of developed remote diagnosis expert system with specific reasoning example.
