With the rapid development of microcomputer control technology, the prime mover simulatuion system in power system should be renewed from traditional analogy control to digital control. At present,most of the domestic simulation systems designed with analogy circuits, are easy to run out and affected by the ambient temperature with their complex structure and poor ability to withstand disturb. The way used in this paper,which uses digital method to design the governor in the simulation system and draws the software on replacing the analogy circuit,can overcome these disappointments.In addition, a piece of LCD is used to make the operation visible and easy to adjust.The history of the simulatuion system,the main work of the author ,the meaning and origin of the research are firstly introduced . Then the fundmental theory of digital relization about the prime mover simulatuion system is expounded.Based on some achievements in the field of PID control in recent years,some new and practical control algorithms,programme designs and methods to adjust parameters are mainly introduced to design the simulation system. On the basis of simulative theory, the achievements of some mathematic models about prime movers having been synthesized, the difference equations with which the computer can cope are obtained by using mathematic tools such as Laplace-Transform and Inverse Z-Transform.According to the function of the system,the hardware and software design ,which takes 80c196kc as CPU,are elaborated .Further more, the methods will improve the system's reliability by hardware and software.Static and dynamic trial experiments indicate that the system , not only can well simulate the prime governor and self_equilibrium characteristics of a prime mover with its simple hardware line,small size and versatility, but also can highly improve the whole system's control precision,reliability and stability when compared with the system design of the analogy circuits.
