| DVB is Digital Video Broadcasting. The DVB project is an industry-led consortium of public and private sector organizations in over 35 countries committed to designing global standards for the delivery of digital television and data services. The DVB standards allows a DVB signal to be carried over a range of bearer networks. Various standards have evolved which define transmission over particular types of link. DVB-T is for terrestrial transmission. DVB-C is cable standard and DVB-S is for satellite transmission.The thesis deals with the algorithm of demodulation and its ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) implementation. The demodulation is used in the DVB receiver of Digital Video Broadcasting Satellite Transmission System. And this chip is used for the channel receiver of DVB-S system.The main contents of this thesis are at a glance:Chapter 1 serves as an introduction to the subject. After an overview of DVB Transmission System,especially to the digital satellite video broadcasting receiver EDA design method using DSM technique is introduced.Chapter 2 discusses the modulation and demodulation theory and the principle of PLL (Phase Locked Loop) from the general communication theory to several modern modulation techniques. Afterwards the emphasis is placed on the analysis of demodulation of QPSK which is the modulation form of DVB-S.Chapter 3 treats the algorithm implementation of demodulator in the receiving ASIC of DVB-S. In detail,demodulation includes carrier recovery and symbol synchronization. Together with the transmission characterization of band-limited input signals the chapter proposes a scheme for implementing carrier recovery loop. The chapter also treats the recovery of timing,the theory of AGC (Automatic Gain Control) and their hardware designs.Chapter 4 is focused on simulation of the demodulation algorithm and analysis of the results. After that,the chapter illuminates the ASIC project of demodulator.The main contributions of this paper are proposing the algorithm and realization of demodulator according to the technical parameters of DVB-S scheme. |
