Pci Bus-based Embedded Systems Research

The embedded system based on PCI bus is used in the system that transfer a great deal of data. The embedded system introduced in this paper is used in the students machine part of the Wholly Digital Multimedia Language Learning System, in order to solve the problem of video data transfer and to improve the system performance.This paper firstly introduces the hardware design of the embedded system based on PCI bus with DSP as its central processor, in the introduction, it demonstrates the circuits design around the DSP, including the design of DSP's bootloader mode, the interface between the DSP and the SRAM which play the role of the DSP's extended program memory and the interface between the DSP and the FLASH. At the same time, in order to realize the data exchange between the system and other PCI devices, this paper also designs the interface circuits between the DSP and the PCI interface chip.On the other hand, in order to realize the operation of the embedded system to the SoundBlaster and the ethernet adapter, and to explore a scheme with high performance-price-ratio for the design of the system design, this paper studies the direct operation of the embedded system with 586 series CPU as its central processor to the SoundBlaster card and the Ethernet adapter. This paper solves successfully the problem of bridge connection between DSP and PCI bus, and the problem of data transfer between the embedded system and the SoundBlaster card with DMA method in the operation system of DOS, and complete the register level operation of the ethernet adapter with C language, which provides the technique basis for the further study of the project.
