With the rapid developing of networking technology, the trend of telecom network, TV network integrated with IP network becomes more and more obviously. The frame model of the next generation network comes into being which were based on IP core network and other applying being linked to the core by Access Network. The interconnect of telecom network and computer network is the important part to the three networks combination. The E1 standard and Ethernet were widely used in telecom network and computer network, which make the research of their interconnect more necessary. This thesis carries out the E1 and Ethernet interconnect scheme based on kinds of interconnect scheme of telecom network and computer network such as the updated VOIP, TDM over IP, and Ethernet to E1 Reverse Multiplexing technologies. Meanwhile, we analyze kinds of implementing ways and then confirm the whole frame of E1/Ethernet adapter with ARM CPU S3C4510B based on embedded system, which assisted with FPGA. And it discussed E1/ethernet adapter implementation in operating system choosing and customizing, device drives, user layer software design and etc. Being given the background of uClinux, This thesis discussed the developing device drives model by embedded technology under uClinux system. Moreover, taking FPGA as its example, this thesis carry out actual code. In the user layer software field, being combined with network programming interface (socket API) supplied by uClinux, this thesis put forward not only the whole software frame by programming in uClinux environment for E1/ Ethernet adapter, but also the flow chart for applying layer software. According to designing requirement, the E1/Ethernet adapter has been running successfully between e line and Ethernet after being implemented and practised times. The design and realize ways discussed in this article provide many valuable practices for future embedded system R&D in device drives and software develop.
