The computer technology has come the era of the calculation of network centric. As we all know, Common Object Request Broker Architecture of OMG has become one of the main standards of the distributed applications .On the other hand, with the expansion of the fields and the deepen of the degree, the request for the quality of the CORBA service is being higher and higher. The distributed software must deal with many critical missions reliably, involving the important fields of military, aerospace, and telecom. So, it is critical to provide strong support for the distributed applications needing high reliability, and Fault-Tolerant is the critical mechanism to provide high reliability. So, people begin to pay attention to providing high-quality and unified platform for the distributed applications, we call it the platform of Fault-Tolerant CORBA.In this paper, we will analyze the components and the assignment of the functions of the platform of Fault-Tolerant CORBA s .By analyzing the Fault-Tolerant CORBA specification I will discuss the design and realization of ORB in the platform of Fault-Tolerant CORBA, including the discussion of the interaction between the clients and the Fault-Tolerant CORBA object groups, Fault-Tolerant ORB's extension and modification to the standard ORB, the transparent reinvoke of Fault-Tolerant ORB, the control of the requests' reinvoke,and the interaction between Fault-Tolerant ORB and the other modules in the platform of Fault-Tolerant CORBA. And by the compare of the different patterns of the design and realization of Fault-Tolerant ORB, I will analyze the procession of Fault-Tolerant ORB's processing requests and the procedures of the Fault-Tolerant interceptors to bring forward and realize a design model of Fault-Tolerant ORB basing on the interceptor model in StarBus.
