Economic evaluation plays an important role in the development of die industry and die price budget is one of key factors of the economic evaluation. The three-dimensional CAD software is gradually replacing two-dimensional CAD software in the die design, but the die price budget systems present in our country don' t support three-dimensional CAD software yet. A new method based on three-dimensional CAD software is proposed to develop die price budget system in this thesis.Based on die price constitution theory, Mathematic models of weight method and man-hour method for die price budget are established. The structure frame of Die Price Budget System is established and the concept of Die Price Budget Information Data Flow (DPBIDF) is proposed. The key problem to implement Die Price Budget System is to make DPBIDF run reasonably and efficiently and to optimize DPBIDF. Several key technologies to implement Die Price Budget System are studied in this thesis. The methods to further develop SolidWorks for customized application and to obtain the geometry characters under SolidWorks are discussed. The technologies to determine the technological process of die parts and the process chains of finished surface are studied. To solve the problem to determine the gross volume of die parts, a new approach with the least embracing circle and the least embracing rectangle is proposed. Die price budget database system based on C/S is also established which comprises common database, additional database and local database.At last, Die Price Budget System based on three-dimensional CAD software SolidWorks is implemented and some examples with this system are presented. The results of these examples show that the system has achieved the anticipated function and improves the efficiency and accuracy of die price budget.
