Electronic commerce has become the fondness of the current information times, and it implicates infinite business potential. Based on its characteristics, it has shown great charm and vitality. But as a new business, electronic commerce is confronted with many problems. The development of electronic commerce is due to the settlement of information communication and obtainment. That is the key to the electronic commerce's development.Information communication and obtainment is based on datum. But informational affair environment is on the move, it has a variety of forms of data expression styles. Based on this point, the requirement of extensibility is very strict. Modern management and distribution concepts call for the central status of the customers, and this also put forward higher requirements of interactivity, user customization, and specialty of information communication and obtainment.Mixed with virtual reality technology, electronic commerce has better expressing capacity and interactive means. At the same time, it also improves the former business model, and meets the customers' demands better. But at the pandect of the applications of virtual reality technology in electronic commerce, the 3D model is only the outside shape of the commodity. There is almost nothing concerned with the electronic commerce. So it has not solved the problem of data structurizing and extensibility. As a result of the lack of interactivity, characterized services can not fulfill the customers' demands completely.Based on the background above, we want to show you with the Virtual Merchandize for E-commerce model (VMEC). It tries to give a powerful tool to these problems. On the basis of the characteristics of the commodities in the electronic commerce, through the abstraction of the value, interactivity and visualization of the commodities, it presents us with a model combined with business information, interactive information and visual information of the virtual commodities. Also it makes use of the XML to define this model. In this way, it solves the data structurizing and extensibility problems better. By virtue of the abundant information in the VMEC model, it is able to provide the process of electronic commerce with better support to the information communication and obtainment.In the following paragraphs, we want mainly to discuss the details of the model's definition and related realizations. We will also describe the extensibility of the model through the realization of the VMEC-Model explorer. Simultaneously, we have given two examples of the model's extensibility: designing texture based on the internal extensibility manner and the dynamic shadow effect based on the external extensibility manner. In the end, we have also discussed realized functions of the explorer's widget and related applications.The shining point of the thesis is to present a new virtual commodity model with better extensibility. And it meets the demand of the data structurizing and extensibility in the electronic commerce better. And so it is able to provide us with services of better interactivity, customization and specialty in the information communication and obtainment.
