Today, the fantastic development of the electronic technology is bringing forward higher request for frequency synthesizer. All frequency synthesizers with low phase noise, highly pure spectrum and fast frequency jump speed have dominating development direction of the frequency synthesis technology. The paper is based on this to study and analyze the theory of PLL frequency jump synthesizer.The paper introduces mainly the key part of PLL frequency jump synthesizerę¢©he design methods of loop filters for current charge pump PLL frequency synthesizer chip, and gives derivation of the design formulas and theory analysis of several passive loop filters. Analyzing their advantage against active loop filters so that this changes the untrue views that higher loop filter was no meaning in the applications.In the beginning of the paper, the development frequency synthesis technology is given, and introducing detailed DAS,PLL synthesizer and DDS, analyzing their advantage and disadvantage. At the same time, PLL theory is analyzing in detail.Then the operation principle of microwave PLL frequency synthesizer is discussed in detail and how to select PLL frequency synthesis scheme when it is designed, and emphasizes the analyses of phase noise and spur, giving formulas for them. I mainly focus on the design of loop filter and the design methods of second, third and forth order passive filters, give some qualitative conclusions o thirdly, the design methods of common active filters and transient response of PLL frequency synthesizers are given too.Last, the feasibility of these design methods is vindicated by computer simulation and actual experiment. This has a good instructional meaning to the design of PLL frequency synthesizer.
