As we all know, digital phase shifter is the necessary key component of phased-array radar. Relative to the classic radar, it has little volume, light weight, high accuracy test, quick reaction, low power consumption, broad coverage and other advantage. There is close restraint on The T/R section's size dimension and weight, which is the key component of phased-array radar. Therefore, there is the requirement of development to make the little volume, light weight, low cost, high performance T/R section. With the widespread availability in space-borne radar system and airborne radar system of the phased-array radar, the research on which became an active demand. The digital phase shifter is the most important component of T/R section. Then there is practice purpose with the research about the topic.At present, the digital phase shifters which having actual value are using PIN or FET to act as switch. PIN digital phase shifter takes advantages in target of insertion loss and cost performance. So that the PIN digital phase shifter is extensive used in all kinds of phased-array radar system. The most extensive used digital phase shifters are four bit in practice. Then I aimed at it to do my research. The goal of the task is to let up the dimension of the phase shifter, but the performance index should still come up to the desire. The design software which I had used was Mwoffice. After selecting the most suitable topology structure of circuit, according to the computing result I aimed at phase-shifting precision, insertion loss and input and output standing-wave ratio to do the optimization. The input and output resistance both matched to 50 ohm. After every bit attaining the demand, then I concatenated the all bit. During the testing, there is much work to do for the purpose of improving those targets including the biasing-circuit modulating.In this paper, design, fabrication and performance of a 4-bitintergrated PIN phase shifter for use in the S-band (3~3.3GHz) frequency range are described. The 4-bit digital phase shifter was fabricated in the microwave composite material which volume is 40X50X0.8mm3 and the dielectric constant equals to 9.7. The maximum of the phase error was 5? in mostly case, the insertion loss was better than 2.2dB, the change of insertion loss was better than ?.25 dB. The vswr was better than 1.4. The total volume of the phase shifter was 58X48X 10mm3.The method of the input and output is SMA connector. |
