Computer Network Fault Management System

As the networks becoming more and more complex and heterogeneous,the problem of network management is getting more prominent. The study and application of network management have a extremly important significance.which can ensure the network running normally,and improve the network system's reliability and availabilityThe primary problem which network management encounted is network configuration,fault,performance,security,plan and expand. On the basis of deeply study and dicussion of network management and fault management,thid paper brings up a management tactic of Heterogeneous network environment,designing and implementing a fault management based on SNMP.In face of the complex heterogeneous network environment,network management this thesis draws some ideal of OSI open management,make a clear definition in object of network management,divides function of management,uses reasonably existing element management system and other utility,construts intergrated network management system which supports standard management protocol,This management policy will not only conform to the direction of network management development in present but also meet the need of end user.Fault management and system implementation is the focal point of this thesis. We have a detailed discussion on the content of fault management,classify types of fault and functions of fault. By applying network management policy to the fault management,we put forward to system designing principle and procedure. We also discuss the requirment,advantage,and system model of fault diagnosis expert system. In accordance with practical network environment,we design and implement fault management system FMS based on SNMP. Using Client/Server architecture,our system established a distributed management model which is compose of Console/Manager/Agent,finished network status monitoring,event processing,fault alarm and log,collecting and analysing MIB variable,etc.,provided many utilities about detection and browsing.
