With the development of science and technology, people have advanced more and more demand for radio communication and constitute more and more radio communication protocol/mode. But they have make receivers more and more complicated on the basic of receiving one communication mode with one unit of circuit having special purpose. And the kind of receiver cannot be updated to support new communication mode after it's manufactured. So the concept of software radio came forth. Engineers want to define all kind of function of receiver by software and programmable DSP processor. But under the level of today technology, it is very difficult to complete a pure software radio. We try to focus on how to implement WCDMA mobile protocol by software radio concept, research the key problem of it, and want to complete a prototype receiver for mobile communication. In this thesis, firstly, we introduce the development history of software radio system and mobile communication, point out it is necessary to implement future radio receiver by software radio concept. Then the thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is he Hardware Implementation of software radio receiver and it includes Chapter 2 and Chapter 3. We introduce the whole architectures flow, chips and performance of proposed hardware system, focus on research work on digital down converter(DDC). Architecture and development of DSP processor is presented in chapter 3, including a DSP image process system; Second part is software and arithmetic in mobile communication system Software development of TMS32OC6000. code of software DDC. channel code and forward digital carrier recover is included in Chapter 4. We simulate WCDMA Ber performance in radio channel to grasp the WCDMA protocol. We research Multi Access Interference suppress in CDMA system, proposed an arithmetic to gain better performance in Chapt 6. At last we implement a prototype receiver based on C6000 processor in Chapter 7. Moreover some advices are proposed to give direction to the following work.
