The Car Body Panel Stamping Expert System

The CAPP system for pressing process of automotive panel is a wonderful ligament which joins well the CAD system to the CAM system in the CIMS of automotive manufacture, and the expert system for the pressing process is the hard core, for the intelligent level of its capability of process planning will determine that of the CAPP system抯. To develop a new expert system with higher intelligent level, the failings of the conventional system must be overcome, such as in the illegible recognition and the inference method, for the form of automotive panel are so complex that the pressing process planning depends seriously on the background of experience. A frame model of an expert system for pressing process of automotive panel is proposed in this paper, which integrates the ANN model, and more, possesses the capability of simulating the human experts?ideation, owing to the abilities of model recognition, creation and association that the ANN model has. Based on feature technique and the theory of object-oriented planning, the feature classification of the automotive panel with its detailed data structure is proposed, and the code rule of the features of automotive panel is established, which creates favorable conditions for the input of automotive pressing process information. Based on the theory of the value engineering, the conception of the value of pressing process project is raised, and the method of evaluating the pressing process project is discussed, thus, the judge criterion for the pressing process project in the frame model of the expert system is developed. II ABSTRACT The model of the expert system, proposed in this paper, not only carries forward the virtues of the conventional system, such as using natural language, having the ability of explaining, offering favorable user抯 interface, but also integrates the technical advantages of the ANN model in the illegible recognition and the inference method, therefore, the mixed system model proposed in this paper has both important scientific significance and obvious technical advantages.
