A new method for constructing a heterogeneous distributed information system is introduced as result of the application of Object-oriented method. This new method is distributed object management method. With its appearance, CORBA, which is a standard about distributed object management system, is suggested by Object Management Group (OMG) and has become de facto industry standard. A flexible communicating mechanism for heterogeneous environment, the kernel technique of components integrating and distributing computing, is provided using middleware technique in CORBA, and a software components integrating standard for distributed heterogeneous computing environments is defined. After introducing the concepts of distributed object management system and CORBA briefly, considering the characteristic of the water conservancy project, this paper presents a CORBA-based object model for distributed information system, which based on concepts of OOSE and UML notional. Farther, it analyses the characteristics of this object models, introduces the general steps and the problems to be considered for integrating a left system by CORBA. At last, it gives an instance of this model.
