The leakage current of high resistivity silicon detector, which will increase its noise and reduce its energy resolution and sensitivity, is one of the important parameter of the detector. It is being studied in the world how to reduce leakage current and to obtain the best detector. In this paper, we systematically analyze the reason or factor effecting the leakage current, and adopt guard ring to reduce PIN-detector leakage current. The result indicated that the leakage current have been reduced 0.5 1 order by guard ring. This paper provides a complete and systematic description of the guard ring, involving its principle, structure, and technics, testing. In addition, this paper introduces a few other methods to reduce the detector leakage current. In the end, a new plan is made.
