With the rapid development of the network, researchers are paying extensive attention to the Internet IP-level topology measurement methods. First and foremost, this thesis introduces the purpose and significance of the research. Then we review the current studies in the world. Next, we introduce the theory of traceroute measurement and the structure of the Paris traceroute probe packets, and analysis the impact of load balancing and path loop in topology measurement.On the one hand, this thesis focuses on studying the influence of different source port numbers and destination port numbers on topology measurement. Experiments based on UDP Paris traceroute, covering all port numbers ranging from 0 to 65535. According to the experiments need, we divide the port number range into five intervals. We respectively go through the destination port numbers and source port numbers, and then divide port numbers into significant and non-significant port number lists according to the number of unique IP address obtained by the measurement data. We design measurement experiment on sample port numbers of different port number lists to validate the usability and validity of port number lists in order to get the lists of available and unavailable port numbers.On the other hand, this thesis also focuses on studying evaluation metrics of Internet IP-level topology measurement and comparative analysis of different topology measurement methods. We introduce existed evaluation metrics, and analysis of their strengths and weaknesses. Then we give the definition of continuous path fragment and put forward a new evaluation metric:continuous path fragment connection degree. We evaluate the measuring effects of ICMP, TCP and UDP probe packets. Finally, we give the experiment conclusions.
