Mass media and social movement are considered to be the focus of observating the contemporary social change. The sociologist Anthony Giddens has said it’s a good opportunity to observe the characteristics of media operating with a particular structure in process of social movement.Among the existing analytical approaches, framing theory is used more popular and widely. Frame is the building frame which interpret social phenomenon, and it means social movement is reconstructed to produce social meanings in the news. Mass media is actually the field which different kinds of ideology compete in. Therefore, this paper advocates analysing news frame of social movement not only need to follow the research of the ideology’s input and output of media, but also need to focus on the relationships of media, sources and social movement, and think about the power struggle and the ideological competition behind the relationships. It’s a new path for correlational researches. In the evening on March 18,2014, Taiwan college students protested the black case work of passing the "Cross-Strait Agreement on Trade in Services" and occupied the Legislative Yuan. The movement ended in the evacuation of those students on April 10,2014. We called it the Sunflowers Movement and it was the first time in the history of Taiwan that the parliament site had been occupied by citizens. This paper chooses the news reports about the Sunflowers Movement in four majior newspapers in Taiwan, "Apple Daily", "United Daily News", "China Times" and "Liberty Times", and uses the framing theory to discuss frame construction with different political position, and then to interpret and analyse how to implement the function of the ideological construction. The comparison among four newspapers shows that media frame plays a role of fact selection and meaningful construction in the reality and meanings’ construction of social movement. Newspapers have different political positions will construct different frames and have obvious political tendencies which reflect the ideologies of different political parties. Observing the evolution of the power relationships among media, sources and social movement, it’s not difficult to prove that the correction of the sentence "the medium is the ideology" and the complicated interactive relationships of media and sources. In Taiwan, the polarization of politics and the open media environment make media as the fourth authority more easier to become the object which all forces struggle for and the tool which they ues. Therefore, different media have different political positions. This makes the news presented by media have own ideology which correspond to their position. In general, the Press in Taiwan has a relationship with political parties. Media can not get out of political parties even though they boast that they are objective and impartial. It will have a certain political position and ideology. What’s more, the particularity of social movement make political parties, social movement organizations and other sources try to use strategies to grab chances to express their views in newspapers. It has become a power struggle. Media and sources have shaped a closely entangled interactive situation.
