With the rapid development and popularity of the4G wireless networks as well as the maturity of smartphones, mobile terminals can bring convenience to people’s lives, work and study. Under this circumstance, the future of Traffic Guidance System lies in mobilization. However, facing the complexity and diversity in the market of mobile terminals, developers need to develop different program versions according to corresponding operating systems, which will greatly increase the cost of development of enterprises. Therefore, the creation of Hybrid App offers possibility for cross-platform portability of mobile applications.This project develops a Portable Traffic Guidance System which can be applied to various mobile terminals by combining the advantages of Hybrid App with users’ real-time requirements of traffic information. The system can provide users with a convenient, easy-to-use and effective mobile application, which can make users get access to traffic information whenever and wherever possible. The thesis expands and improves the plug-in provided by the PhoneGap framework at the technical level and researches the introduction of third-party plug-ins. It also displays the development process of the Traffic Guidance System comprehensively from system design to software engineering idea strictly obeyed during the process of encoding implementation, from feasibility analysis of relevant technologies to system requirement analysis and to the realization of system function。The system is implemented on the basis of two parts: the client-side and the server-side. The client-side is developed by using the front-end framework of HTML5and JqMobi. It also transfers mobile phone operating system API by using PhoneGap and generates applications of different systems by employing compliers. The server-side adopts PHP language development to mainly accomplish extraction and storage of data. This cross-platform scheme will realize cross-platform portability of mobile applications and largely reduce the cost of development and maintenance.
