Research And Analysis Of Book Acquisition System

As the national reading movement continues to heat up, the book reading rate and reading amount are on the increase. In order to meet the needs of readers, libraries must regularly update their book collections. The task becomes more heavy whereas existing means cannot meet the growing needs of book acquisition. So the use of modern information technology is required to upgrade the book acquisition system. This study did research on the existing four major library business systems and found their book acquisition modules put more emphases on the perspective of the library. However, considerations for management of book recommendation, book procurement and book supply are inadequate. This study aims to connect all aspects and all roles involved in the book acquisition to improve the efficiency of book acquisition system. Based on the business analysis, this thesis demonstrated problems existed in the system, the organization and the original business process and also modified the re-engineering business process. Based on the functional analysis, each function of the system was clarified by analysis and description of applications. The general function package diagram and the sub-function package diagram were created, including sub-function package diagrams for book recommendation, book procurement plan, book purchasing, and book supply. Based on the data analysis, data required for each function were analyzed. The entity relationship diagram was worked out and the structure of database table was established. Finally, the research and analysis work of the study were summarized and further work of this topic was discussed.
