In our country, the population of old people whose age exceeding65is increasing yearly. The trend of population aging is inevitable. With this trend and the formation of aging society, the whole society begins to focus their attention on the variety problems caused by this trend. In the meanwhile, we see a continuing climb in the internet coverage and a rapid growth in internet technology. Weibo, as one of the new-occurring internet platforms, has been serving both as a social networking site and as an open media. With this unique advantage, it has placed surprisingly impact on people’s daily life step by step. In this paper, author tries to explore the images of old people formed in Weibo platform by applying literature analysis and textual analysis. With the general result coming from the literature and text, the author combined them with representative case study and find that old people’s image in Weibo is characterized negatively. By further looking at individual case study, the author also investigate how the negative old people’s image is developed in Weibo and what’s the hidden logic behind it. The author draw a conclusion that the negative old people image formed in Weibo is actually an interaction between several forces, that is, the unique characteristics of Weibo platform, information publisher’s incentive and the absence of old people’s role in this platform. Finally, the author proposed several ways to counter this phenomenon, such as revise Weibo’s information publishing mechanism, regulate related information publisher’s behavior and improve old people’s involvement in Weibo platform. Only with all these countermeasures can we build a healthier and better aging society.
