Along with the development of an era,the scope and extent of the application of new media technologies in the museum is also deepening.Especially after the rise of social media, its large amount of users makes it a good place to propagandize the museum. In the world wild, many museums register in Facebook and Twitter to share information and interact with visitors, and register in YouTube to share videos. There are also some museums share pictures of exhibitions and collections in Flickr and Pinterest.WeChat and Sina Weibo are the largest social media platforms in China. At least 115 of the 130 national first-class museums have already registered in WeChat, and 103 have already registered in Weibo.By analyzing the statistics and operation method of each museum,I summarize the present situation of using WeChat and Weibo in the propaganda of museums. In the part of WeChat,I count the WCI of every national first-class museum, and classify the content of the menu bars, such as introductions, exhibitions, audio guides, activities, news and so on.At last,I analysis the push messages of "weigugong".In the part of Weibo,I observe of the trend of the word"museum" and then analysis two museum accounts with large number of fans--"Sichuan Guanghan Sanxingdui Museum" and "National Palace Museum".After analysis the advantages and disadvantages of WeChat and Weibo,I offer some suggestions of using social medias in the museum propaganda. We should focus on improving the quality of articles in Wechat and its service functions. And Weibo is Suitable for interaction with the audience and collect user feedback. Moreover, museums should pay attention to the linkage between various social media accounts,in order to achieve resource sharing.
