In the process of automated production, Machine vision has been widely applied in fields of industrial production, such as quality inspection, sorting and target identification. High performance industrial camera is the core components of the machine vision system, as well as the foundation device of collecting image data and extracting the detection characteristics, it determines the detecting precision and speed. Color linear CCD with high resolution, high speed and excellent color fidelity has an irreplaceable position in the field of fast moving target detection and color detection, at present it has been widely used in defect detection, color classification,character recognition, image scanning, PCB testing and other fields. Based on the excellent performance of color linear CCD image sensor, this paper designs an color linear CCD camera, which can be applied to industrial inspection.This paper introduces the hardware and software design of color linear CCD camera in detail. The system uses FPGA as the main control chip, controlling line array CCD sensor, AD conversion chip to complete the image acquisition and the analog-to-digital conversion of signal. In addition this paper puts forward the solutions in view of the problems appeared in the process of image acquisition, such as image distortion, color deviation, pixel non-uniformity, which effectively improved the image quality. Finally the camera designed a high-speed Cameralink communication interface, which enables camera communication with the computer in the Base mode.The test results show that the designed color linear CCD camera can quickly obtain high quality color images which completely meet the requirements of industrial detection.
