Tank plays an important role in the modern war. In the future ground war, tank is still the main weapon to gain the victory. Tank usually orientates the target using opto-electronic sensor, which performance is easily influenced by the bad weather such as raining, snowing and fogging. Millimeter-band radar can make up these shortcomings. Millimeter-band linear frequency modulation continuous wave (LFMCW) radar has the merit of simple structure, small volume, high resolution in space and real-time character. So it can detect and orientate the targets on the ground or in the low altitude and improve the performance of the tank. The character of the noise and the detection methods in tank radar are lucubrated in the paper. The operating principle of the symmetry triangle LFMCW is first introduced in this paper. Aiming at the tank radar is needed the high range resolution; the noise capability of the symmetry triangle LFMCW radar and the influence to the range resolution is analyzed. The symmetry triangle LFMCW radar probably generates the heavy coupling between the distance and speed because of the large time-width, for the multiple-target detection, MTD-frequency domain pairing method that can remove the clusters and strong inferences for decoupling and detecting multiple-target is studied. Then, a modified method is given for the disadvantage of changing cycle multitarget detection methods. Combining with MTD, it simplifies the calculation of the changing cycle multiple-target detection detection methods and improves the performance of the radar. Finally, the compare among two detection methods is given; the simulation demonstrates the validity of those algorithms.
