| The TV operators are developing a new service type named TV everywhere, so that current video services which include live broadcast, video on demand and lookback TV, can extend to smart mobile devices such as iPhone and iPAD. Usually the transcode equipments are installed in these systems to change video format. And some kinds of equipment can transcode input stream into various formats and store them to files as VOD contents. But it will consume equipment’s more resources in this mode, and it becomes more complicated on how to protect the recording files while the equipment fails. And it is quite difficult to record Adaptive Streaming program, a technology that the client will detect current bandwidth and switch among various streams for best view experience. So it is not under the perfect condition to directly record online stream to lookback TV content.The paper analyzes the requirements for lookback TV based on Internet streaming technology and the interface support with current system, then presents a method to provide stable, reliable and flexible lookback TV service for mobile devices with a little cost. The way is to add a streaming content transcode control system located between current lookback TV system and streaming service system while both these current systems keep normal operation as ever. And the new system will take control of transcoding video content received from lookback TV system and publishing to streaming service system, also provide event-driven operation process, automatic failure detection and recovery, parallel job control and task management. Following this approach we developed streaming content transcode control system and finished the validation for the practicality of this method after some internal trails, we also reported some deep analysis results with system performance data and give some advices for system optimization in future. As a result we find out an easy way to realize the lookback TV system to mobile devices for TV operators. |
