In recent years, SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) technology is developing fast in computer software field. With the SOA foundation standards like web service and BPM workflow and the SOA products become mature, many new attempts of SOA appear in different industry. As the web service has some features like loosely-couple, cross-platform, standard-interface, self-description and can access based on HTTP, it is very suitable to be the interface standard for the animal welfare management system. As the BPM workflow standard can orchestrate the web service flexibly and also has some features like exception handling, compensation transaction etc, it is very suitable to define a variety of exchange and sharing processes for the platform. Therefore, the adoption of SOA technology and methodology can be the ideal solution to solve the problem of integration of heterogeneous animal study systems which are distributed in different area.Currently, a large number study of animal welfare still use the non-digital method and lack the efficient integration of these resources. In response to this situation, this thesis achieves the design and implementation of an animal welfare management system by leveraging the technologies of the computer science, the network communication and the animal study processing. With this system we try to promote the integration and sharing of animal resource from animal lifecycle. The detail approaches include the way to analyze animal welfare current problem in different phase of animal order, housing and study, the way to utilize SOA method and technology against actual requirement, the way to provide the animal study analysis and data exchange, the way to provide data access service with security and access control, the way to improve the data utilization, the way to reduce study costs and the way to support the telemedicine by provide the distribute data. To implement the data integration between the systems is through international standards (SOP, HTTP/SOAP, XML etc.). In future, we plan to cover the data generated by comparable medicine and animal study management information integration.
