Linux system source code open, almost free to use, efficient and safe and stable character make it quickly become one of the fastest growing operate system. In a related study of Linux system, It is first come in the server space, it become famous because of its low cost, stable and safe. because of these advantages make Linux desktop needs unceasingly expands.In the rapid development of the information age, the increasing popularity of multimedia computers, multimedia applications rapidly expanding computer desktop system is widely used in basic office and entertainment which has to meet the basic needs of ordinary users. Under meet the basic premise that if a lightweight operating system customization in the future development will become a new hotspot, the design of software management system can be convenient management software under Linux system.In this thesis, a custom Linux-based desktop systems, focusing on custom lightweight to meet the requirements of the average user desktop environment. It is practical, feasibility, convenience in use process, in this paper, it mainly studies the start debugging and modification of the interface, the built of Anaconda environment, The compile of RPM, the establishment of the software depot. Use the QT-based software development management system, the Linux desktop systems can be more easily managed system software. The first chapter introduces the research background and significance, Present situation of home and aboard and the main content. The second chapter introduces the Linux operating system components, operating principles and applications. The third chapter describes the design of a general-purpose Linux operating system of the production process as well as some key technology and research methods in the production process need. The fourth chapter describes the design and implementation of the Linux operating system and software management system introduced quality software modules, software uninstall module, group management module and other related modules. The fifth part is a summary and outlook and future work.
