With the rapid development of the operation system--LINUX,more and more research are done to the application of the Linux desktop system in the office field. Especially while the Chinese government has undertaken actions to use genuine software, Linux is becoming the new and important choice of OS after Windows. Usually, an OS develops and improves gradually, although the Linux desktop system applied in the office field had taken some developments, compared with Windows, it still need be perfected. The article mainly discusses how to realize a new Linux desktop system on the USB disk As we know, for the USB disk itself are easy and convenient to take, the new system on the USB disk could also assure the safety of data and the convenience to choose application, we could make sure that, to use the new Linux system on the USB disk should be the new tendency in mobile office field .The article mainly describes the procedure of design and realization the new Linux desktop system on the USB disk at the following aspects.The first part of the article is the boot of the Linux at the USB disk. The part mainly talks about the characters of the USB disk and the speciality of installing the Linux GRUB.The second part expounds how to reduce the Linux system program. i.e., to reduce the program from the code level to package both in Linux code and system, so as to meet the system requirement of easy and convenience.The last part is about the design and realization of the desktop system. According to the demand for the application, choosing and reducing the software packages ,the micro Linux desktop system is finally designed and built.
