The purpose of every location based information system is:“To provide users with theexact information, at right place and the real time with humanized setup and locationinformation”. In this age we are using smart-phones, smart-phone are going to replace the bigdesktops even for computational purposes.These needs can only be satisfied with the help ofLBS. But these applications are limited to be running on computers only. We need to move themto the mobile phones. All the information can be available in our mobile device and also in usercustomized made. This project about Android application of location based service on mobiles isbased on the mobile operating system “Android”, Java technology and GPS technology.This system uses the Baidu Map API design an application on mobile phone to get apositioning, navigation and traffic information and many other services for online navigationsoftware. In the Android device, this application has a good user interface, a high speed ofresponse, and a good user experience.In the first chapter of this paper expounds the research background of this project and thesignificance of this project, As well as the research status at home and abroad. And then describein more detail of this task and problems solved by this paper.In second chapter, this paper makes an investigation into the related theoretical basis ofapplication development, including electronic map technology, location technology and theWireless communication technology. Among them, Electronic map technology involvescomposition of the electronic map and the interaction process between the client and service;location technology includes station location, terminal location and GPS location.In third chapter, this paper analysis the demand of the system applications and divides itinto seven function modules: current location positioning module, position search module, pathplanning module, real time traffic module and nearby search module. Among them, currentlocation positioning module is to obtain the user’s current location information; position searchmodule is to provide the specific position on the electronic map; path planning module is toprovide the best user travel path information.The fourth chapter expounds the realization of this location positioning system, and thedetailed implementation process and code are given in this paper.Finally, sum up all of this work, and look forward to update and future improvement in thenext step.
