Abstract/Summary:
In recent years, more and more countries are beginning to use various software tools for processing the census data. In China, many local governments have begun to adopt a number of information technology tools to enhance the efficiency of data processing for the Population Census Project. But there is still lack of GIS system that can be combined with the database of population information system. Therefore the development of a population information collection and distribution system based on GIS system will significantly promote the efficiency of Population Census Project and also able to provide decision support for making government policy.Firstly, it is analyzed the present conditions of the data processing in Population Census Project, clear about the function position, core functions and system flow of GIS-based Population Information Collection and Distribution System(GPICDS). Based on it, an analysis about the overall structure, subsystem partition and technology selection of GPICDS is performed. Additionally, based on.Net Framework, XML and Web Service Application, it is analyzed the design and implementation of the subsystems of GPICDS. The discussion is focus on these main subsystems: Population Information based on GIS, Multi-Channel Data Acquistion System, Data Exchange Platform, Data Storage Center.
