Future applications are likely to exacerbate thistrend, as evidenced by the recent emergence of more progressive initiatives such asultra-wideband (UWB) systems, software defined radios, and 60GHz wireless personal. These systems need PLL to operate in wider freqncy band and have less phasenoise.Hence, wideband VCOs and PLLs are becoming important in those applications as well. Finally, future reforms to current spectrum allocations may allow thetheoperation of smart cognizant radios. In light of the above trends, the main goal of this thesis is to identify successful measures for wideband low-noise frequency synthesis.A wide tuning range LC VCO is designed based on TSMC 0.13μm CMOS process . Only one VCO be adopted for the Tuner's PLL which should cover the frequency band of UHF and L so that the area and power consumption of the Tuner can be smaller. The Tail-current be moved and the supply voltage biasing the VCO straight so that phase noise can be smaller and delivers more ideally constant amplitude .The supply voltage is 2 V, VCO's tuning range is from 2.56 G Hz to 3.84 G Hz, The back-end simulaton show that phase noise is -105dBc/Hz@100KHz and -95dBc/Hz@100KHz at 2.56-G Hz and 3.84-G Hz.Amplitude change less than 8% in whole tuning range. The total DC power consumption is 15 mW.
